Dr. Johan E. Uvin is the President of the Institute for Educational Leadership, a national education non-profit in Washington, D.C. Prior to this role, Johan served eight years in the Obama Administration. He was the Assistant Secretary for Career, Technical, and Adult Education in the second term of the Administration. His responsibilities included adult education, career and technical education, community colleges, and immigrant and refugee integration. He collaborated with the OECD on the development of the PIAAC report Time for the U.S. to Reskill? He was the Vice Chair of the OECD National Expert Group on Vocational Education and Training and Adult Skills. Johan holds a doctorate in Administration, Social Planning, and Policy from Harvard University. He is the recipient of the prestigious Homeland Security Outstanding American by Choice Award.
